There is an engine out front of the Roundhouse that is steaming up I guess to check for leaks.

plus there are 5 guys cleaning the switches to the ash pit along with the front end loader cleaning the pit. Getting ready for some movement.

Guys, I am really sorry if this affects anything, but for a third time, I have decided not to do any daily posting this year. It is good fun to do, but, like Sharon before me, it gets in the way of much more important stuff. I may still occasionally post screenshots, and videos if I get a YouTube account, but not daily. I may return to full posting next year.

In the meantime, is there anyone else who could cover grabbing shots for me? I would be very grateful if there is.

I would hazard a guess that the engine in steam this morning is 484, as 463, still tenderless is in front and 487, as far as I know, is in the west stall. However we will see these two engines steamed up as well; 487 participating in the OY charter with 484, and 463 will be the protect engine.

Thanks Jack for doing the post for a time, again it tends to take over and you have less free time. If I see something and have time will post so here is that gently steaming K36. I will be going to Chama for work sessions C & D so will have a lot to post while I am there. If you look carefully, you can see the headlight of 15 in south yard.

The first signs of steam for 2020, probably getting it ready for the OY special.

With the end of lunch break, the large front loader just shoved the locomotive back into the east stall.

Thank you Sharon, that is very generous of you. It might not be forever but just not for now.

Earlier 15 had pulled 484 (the hot engine) to the ash pit. She has a newly-painted smokebox, and looks raring to go!

I have been watching 15 as it moves about the yard and almost looks like they have installed a MARS light on the end we can see, it is oscillating.

Yes, I had also noticed that recently. They installed it earlier in the winter.

Since we have seen 484 today she is fully ready. 487, having returned to service in December, is also basically ready. 463 will have her tender reunited and I would guess also receives a bit of work just in case she is needed to cover for either '87 or '84.

Meanwhile, over in Antonito, 488 has had her tender pulled and is undergoing her annual inspection. 489, undergoing her 1472, has had a new riveted smokebox installed and recently had her boiler cladding removed. The plan is for all five engines, plus 315 and 168, ready for the start of the season on May 23rd.

15 has moved the OY over to the coaling dock to get coal for the coming trip. 15 has aslo done some switching in the yard this afternoon.
