Update (8/9/19)

John and I worked on the network both this morning and yesterday morning. Though we can't explain what happened, it looks like we're dead in the water.

As soon as i can clear my schedule and take care of some personal issues, we'll get the new gear ordered and I'll head back up there to rip-and-replace everything. I'll do my best to get it done before the end of the season, but I can't make any promises.

More later...

I for one, and I'm sure I actually speak for all, appreciate all the time and effort you voluntarily contribute to keep the system running. Lately it has been a 365 day watch/shift that you're standing. I want to see the cameras working as much, if not more, than the next guy but, when I consider your personal time and expense involved, as far as I'm concerned, it gets done when it gets done. I know you, I also know that won't be your approach. However, I do want the people who read this to grab a bottle six pack of patience and drink hearty.

Thanks, Rich. I appreciate the sentiments.

On a positive note: I'm only 12 years from retiring and then I'll be in Chama full time during the season. When I'm not shoveling coal, I'll be able to repair the cameras in quick order. Of course, by that time we'll probably have 3D holograms complete with smell-o-vision. :smiley16:

I'd prefer the harp gig though.

In 12 year's time I would love to live here and have a footplate ride on 488.

4,953 days. Give or take a few.

Yes, I'm counting...

Jason, thanks for the update, am really pleased that the gear is being replaced. Will the south cam be changed back to its old position or is that dependent on other people's ideas?

Because there is a difference of opinions with no clear majority, I'll put up a poll when the time comes and do what the majority wants.

There's also a chance that the new cameras will have somewhat different lens capabilities.
I for one am taking a wait and see position.

Rich, we aren't replacing the cameras just yet. Only the network gear.

We will, however, get the mic issues resolved.
