Well right now someone is adjusting the south tipple cam and we have a great shot of the swamp.

Oh well, south cam is out again. Guess Jason is still doing his adjustments and fixes.

I love those cams and greatly appreciate all the efforts.
For those who missed it: here is the special view we saw during the period of adjustment.

Jason, Thank you going the extra mile(s) and out of your way just so we arm chair fans can get a bit of virtual Chama time.
How's the outlook for the future with the current equipment?

Thank you, Jason. The C&TS has been missed while the cameras were out. It is so good to have them back, so I can watch them from Toronto, Ontario!

Bravo Jason!
New position for South Cam or just a different zoom aspect? Curious, no judgement zone!

This view reminds me of when the cams were first tested in 2012. Will it stay this way? I like it.

Yes, that was me working on the South Cam. I was replacing the camera chassis to get the external mic working. I just turned it back on, but there's nothing happening right now so I can't tell if it's working. I expect y'all will tell me tomorrow.
Yes, I adjusted the view while i was in there. I pulled the zoom out all the way and moved it over a bit so we can better see the Sand House. There's no way I'm going back up there unless it's absolutely necessary, so it's staying this way.
Working on the Tipple, especially alone, is a lot like a space walk. It's dangerous and few have done it. You have to move very slowly and deliberately. You have to take EVERYTHING you'll need (or might need) with you. You can't drop anything. One wrong move, you die.
All-in-all, it was a good day. I'm very tired. 'Nite everyone.

Might last a few more years. Might die before I click "Submit" on this post.

Jason, I don't mean to be this negative, but I actually really don't like the new view on the south cam. I miss the former view, even the first view until 2015. I wish it could be changed.

If we took a poll we'd most likely get about 50% who like the new view and 50% who don't. I'll say this, I didn't care for the previous view but, I got used to it pretty quick.

I'll be back, eventually, to replace the network gear. I'll put it to a vote before then and change it back if that's what the majority wants.

PS: I'll bet Joe K likes the new view

It looks like there's still an issue with the mics. Sorry guys.

As to the view, I like it other then maybe tipping it down slightly to get more of the track at the sand tower. You would only lose some sky.

That will also help later in the year to guard against lens flare from the sun

I got to watch the train leave today - I'm super happy!
With one day of observation, and reading the comments above, I'd agree with the thought on tipping angle down a bit but leaving the zoom as currently displayed.
I'm also totally on-board with the "live Jason is better than dead Jason" theme!

I am in the group that likes the widest angle available.
Tipping the camera sound like a good idea.
Come the 4th of July, the added sky should give us a great view of the fireworks.
Just as an aside. Is the North camera zoomed all the way out?
Is there a way to show more of the swamp without losing too much of the coaling area?
Jason, you are soooo right re the danger of moving around on the upper part of the coaling tower.
More Kudos for all the effort you have put in keeping these cameras working.
Allan

If I remember correctly, the north cam is pulled back all the way. So is the Depot cam.

I will pile on this thread and ask for less sky and a slight shift to the east.

This new view, especially in the area by the ash pit, seem rather blurry. I thought perhaps it was me, but even the green bushes or weeds are blurry. I have a hard time viewing when an engine is at the ash pit, to find out what number the engine is. I'm open to feedback on this.

I can adjust that remotely and will take a look tomorrow.

The only main reason you can't see the number is because the loco is too filthy to even make it out!

Jason - it seems to be a bit better, but not quite as good as the former cam views. It is just in that part of the window view, lower left corner, like looking at it because it is in shadowy area or looking through some tall bushes, too. Overall, the rest of the view is fine! Again, all your help is greatly appreciated, and anything is better than nothing! "Keep on chugging, but don't run out of steam!"

The Daylight does make a big difference and it looks fine now. Thank you so much for all you do and bring us all back with memories of our times there, even it if was only one time - August 2002. Ah,......homesick. Ha, ha.
