.

Train 216 with locomotive 488 doing the chores, left the station at about 10:30. You will notice in the video that there is a member of the yard crew hitching a a ride on the tender. My guess is that he was there to evaluate some aspect of the performance of the locomotive and consist and make adjustments if necessary. You note that the train was delayed in the north yard be about 5 minutes. Possibly there was corrective work to be done. You think? This is a 13 minute video, so grab a cup of coffee, and enjoy.

.
This next video is of the same departure of 216, however the color and definition has been altered. The resolution remains the same at 640 x 480. You will notice that YouTube has added thick black bars to either side of the picture. This results in a picture resolution of 1280 x 720 which is preferred by YouTube. You may have seen your TV make similar adjustments when watching older movies. It is just another way of filling out the wide screen.

Please activate both videos simultaneously. YouTube pays the freight, so it won't be expensive for you or the Friends operation. You can judge for yourself the success of editing. The colors seem sharp and the pictures crisp in the second video. Some of you may prefer the bit more exaggeration or bloom of the colors of the first video along with the softness of the edges.

.
This final video is an edited copy of the 1st or original screen copy and has an adjusted resolution of 1280 x 720. It has the same visual characteristics of the 2nd video except that everything has been stretched a bit to fit the larger width. There are no side bars when played.

Again, video 1 is the original screen recording, and video 2 is that same recording edited, video 3 is edited and adjusted to 1280 x 720 resolution. YouTube assigns the 1280 x 720 a high definition of 720p. The best you receive from 640 x 480 is a definition of 480. The 720p definitiion renders the graphics a bit brighter and whiter. I find the second 480p edited video a bit muddy. I have lived in this state almost 80 years and find that the 2nd and 3rd video are what I am accustomed to seeing. The first video is similar to the first technicolor westerns I watched on the big theater screen.
