The high side gon that the diesel moved Thursday was 1000. It was removed from a storage string in the south yard and placed in the Swamp on an adjacent track to an idler flat that the same Friends team is well into rebuilding. That flat car awaits two new side sills (which were reportedly delivered to Chama from the sawmill late Thursday and new decking. Before 1000 was moved from the south yard, the crew had to cut apart and remove a side that had partially fallen to the ground next to the car. The car needs new sides, new decking, at least some replacement braking hardware and, IIRC, at least some new sills. I am not working on that car but I have seen it several times this week during C work session and spoken to the team leader about it. I wish I was in the yard at the time to observe the move, which also included repositioning the flat car because it's work is further along.
