#488 had to have some new seals according to Julian. I shook my head like I knew what he was talking about. With #484 down, and #455/463 on special duty, that put us with 1 engine on each side for a while. Wish us Luck on the trial run today. We have father son team, Ray and Evan Martinez as train crew today.
Nobody knows yet whether we will be turning trains at Osier today.
Tomorrow is my last ride this year. My 50th on a $150 ticket. I will become known as Frank the freeloader instead of Frank the Waver. 91 the last 2 years. I have enjoyed every trip. No 2 trips have been the same. Thank you friends for tolerating my riding obsession, and I promise to sign up for some Work Sessions next year.
Gotta Go. Gotta train to ride. I'll be waving from the Café Car. :toys:

Wow Frank, that works out to $3 a ride, what a bargain even with having to pay extra for the occasional parlor ride and lunch at Osier, since season ticket holders have to do that. Evan is a neat young man. Rode from Antonito to Osier with him this year and the trainman rides the parlor platform most of the way so we talked a lot.

Another beautiful evening at the C&TSR Chama Depot rail yards. Locomotive #488 hostlers finish dumping the accumulated ash and clinkers from its grate. There does not seem to be any pressure to quickly finish this task. Once a hostler climbs onto the tender, you can take it as a signal that the next stop is the water tower. After a few hundred gallons are dumped into the 5,000 gallon tank, the crew backs Locomotive #488 past the ash pit to the engine house. There is still work to perform, but most of it will be out of sight of the cameras.
