Departure of train 216: 489 and 7 cars. Wonder why they did the coach swap yesterday on 215. I did note that they were using one of them as an idler car when 19 was attempting to re rail the 487 tender.

Again, as the train passes the tipple you can see the 2 flat roof coaches ahead of the single regular one.

Will post the stills and video when I get home the afternoon, and, no, I am not eclipse watching.
Would you please record the eclipse from all 3 cams? I can do some editing and maybe create something kinda neat.
Thanks Sharon.

I can get the 2 tipple cams, but when I have tried to reduce the resolution below 100% to get all three the results are less than stellar. Bandicam is running now so, unless it freezes, will have it.

Thank you, very much. I'll see if I can grab the Depot Cam myself. After all, I think I'm the head techno-geek around these parts.

I am sure that you two will make a valiant effort! I never thought about the eclipse in Chama and I am staring at my bumper stick telling me I am "Livin On Chama Time." Being here in Omaha on the edge of totality the eclipse is all we have heard about for the last three months.
Frank....Was that you sitting on the Depot bench this morning? Have a great ride today! Was the problem yesterday with the engine brake again? Remember that you are riding for all of us camera watchers and I think that I can speak for all when I say thanks for the info you provide, supporting the railroad and.....'the wave.'

Yes Bill, they are trying 489 with this train to see if they get better results. Oddly most of the passengers didn't want to get off at the second crossing to get on the bus. Everyone considered the 4 emergency stops an adventure. There were no more failures after we de-trained. Ray and Tracy said it must have been the dead weight. Brad is going to finish painting the car today if it doesn't rain Gotta go. Gotta train to catch.

When you say "finish painting the car" you referring to the 3537?

Tom Casper posted an interesting picture of the disposition of locomotive 487's tender in Antonito . It is on the Structures and Locomotive site in the Forum. Steve R.

When they sent 215 out of Antonito yesterday, they substituted 2 flat roof coaches for 2 of the regular ones. Then one of the regular coaches shows up as idler car for 19 on the shot you were talking about Steve.

It looked like they had quite a mess over there. Hopefully everything turned out alright, thanks Sharon for the info. Steve

Cold wet night in the Chama Depot rail yards. Puddling of water is particularly noticeable along the walkway south of the depot. The best part of the video is the sound of rain falling on a tin roof.
. Note: Best viewed YouTube full screen and 720p. Yes, you are right. The "so called" tin roof is the metal camera housing mounted above the bathrooms. .
