Arrival of train 215: 463 and 9 cars.
There may be something wrong with 215. The speeder which normally follows the train 216 moved from its normal parking spot over to the west house lead where I could see people around it. It has now headed out of Chama. Our man on the train, Frank, should be able to report once he is back in Chama.
Ok, as of now, 1935 MDT, still no train into Chama. Will keep watching. Speeder has not returned yet either.

I was watching 487 and 489 being watered this afternoon and it looks like 489 has a new spark arrestor.

Possibly, it was in for a boiler wash.

Great to see the station camera back up! Now if one of the station staff waiting for the delayed #215 could yell up anything they know to the microphone!

At least the cam cooling fan is not roaring right now.

The fact that it is over three hours late is very unusual.... There must have been something quite serious. Let us hope it is only something mechanical.

We can hope they are on the move, the crew has about 90 minutes left until they "die on the law".

One of the buses just headed east on 17. Maybe they are going to pick up people at either 1st or 2d crossing.

Does anyone know if someone in authority could post something about this late train?

Just got word, the tender derailed around Cresco and they have sent buses. This is from Tim Tennant.
2000: The passengers are coming in, just spotted Frank Smith on the depot cam walking with the docent.

Thanks Sharon and Tim.
Knowing it is something not too serious (I hope) ....priceless!

Well the south cam just went black and white, the other should not be far behind. No telling when the train set will finally get into Chama. I am calling it for me, though I will leave the recording running so in the morning we will know.

We just got in . 463s tender jumped the track on the straight a way this side of Cresco we were lucky because we were getting ready to go into the S curves . Even with 9 cars behind her the emergency car brakes stopped us on a dime. It was a long walk back to the Cresco road. The 2 lame ladies with us were real troopers and kept everyone spirits up. I ride every day because I love these trains. I love the railroad people even more. You never know what to expect on a mountain RR. We had Hank as a Docent today. I told everyone not to worry because Hank is a Marine and they are trained to leave no man behind. He said that goes for the ladies too. Tired but happy Frank the waver.

Spotted this trio of deer just a few minutes before you posted that the tender derailed, and that the "waver" and a docent were spotted on the depot cam. Thanks for staying with the story until some meaningful information was reported. .

So, did they leave the consist out there because its not at the depot? Reviewed the recording and saw that the train came in with 463.

.
At about 9:15 P.M., M.D.T. K-36 Locomotive completes dumping ashes at the pit. She was then shoved to the engine house. I am unable to identify the pushing locomotive. Perhaps another viewer can.
Rick, I think those engines were both K 36's. 463 is on the pit right now. Looks like they backed 463 into the East side. Both K-36's are on the west side, if my RR compass is working right.

Thanks Ed. I made my judgement based upon the configuration of the smokestack of the locomotive being shoved. Apparently #463 moved onto the pit while I was processing my clip. I notice in the cam that there are 3 locomotives at the engine house and that 2 locomotives are on the west side and the other on the east side. Were you able to identify the locomotive at the pit in the clip? Regardless, I'll correct the post and the video title. Always learning. .
