487 geting ready to be fired?

Unread postby Rich Murray » Thu May 11, 2017 10:35 am

15 has towed 487 to the coal dock but right now it looks like the crew wasn't happy with the first load of coal. The front loader has moved around to the engineers side and the crew is shoveling something into its bucket. What elese could it be but coal?
Interesting

Alternate possibility: the front loader operator dumped a load to far forward

...and possibly, someone forgot to latch the coal doors closed. At any rate, 487 is now back in the engine house, and #15 is out front and sleeping again.

Finally!!! Some activity in the yard, soon we will see some steam - I'd guess Monday unless they are going to work tomorrow or over the weekend. I'll have video of the operation up in a while.

#15 moves #484 to the coal dock to load the tender. I think Edwin may be right about the coal doors as they did remove quite a bit of coal from the tender. I didn't run the video that long, but after the loader moved away it did put the coal back into the tender, along with one more scoop.

First video the move, 2nd is the coaling.

#15 pulls 487 back to the shop, likely to sit for the weekend ready for hopefully some steam on Monday.
