1/21/17 The snow keeps coming

Chama is have another significant snow event and looks like most of the work done last week to clear the house leads is getting buried again. I have only been watching the cams for 3 years now so it will take an "old hand" to let us know when the last time the snow was this bad.

Hang in there Sharon, I'm sure Roger will fill us in.
I'm not so the locals consider the snow amount "bad" though

I can recall that a few years back, the village of Chama was on the national news, showing Herculean efforts to dig out from nearly a six-foot dump. Snowdrifts were almost up the eaves of the depot. What we're seeing today is mind-boggling if you think about having to get out and shovel it, but it's not all that unusual for mountain dwellers. Gives you a real appreciation for what the pre-abandonment railroaders had to deal with. It wasn't unusual to sometimes have to suspend operations, and many are the tales of crew members who got stranded in the high country for several days. Whatever... it's going to be a while until we see the rails again!
