Steam wafts from the heater pipes on the house roof, the sun has just risen over the mountains and the snow is laying on the ground, but don't let this quiet fool you for 2 weeks from today it will be all activity as the yearly Santa trains run.

We don't know if they've finished with #489 yet ... if it's slated as the road engine for the Christmas Specials and there are lubrication problems (as Tom suggested) we might see more light-engine days-out ...

If needed they can still use the grease on her, but we may still see more activity.

No, grease and oil don't mix (LOL). When the cellars are changed over, my understanding is the grease won't work anymore.

Thanks Tom, I thought I read that went the oil did not work early in the season they used grease. Guess that they had to change out the cellars.

Yes. i am wondering if they are doing each wheel and testing instead of each axle as there are so many tests.

I saw a post by Russ at the C&TS that the oilers were put on during the season so what were they testing?
