A gathering of photographers is underway early! 315 is hot and out too. First to ashpit, then a stop at tank, finally coupled on to a cut of cars by the tank. 315X then backs down onto the main to head for coaling. We will soon have a stock extra ready to go east!! 315 will take cars to Antonito today is tentative plan.

Wonder if there is something going on today we did not know about other then the 2 goose round trips to Cumbres?

At the moment, it looks like everything is waiting on the 315. The goose is ready to depart and 487 sits up at the end of the house lead.

There seemed to be a problem with 315 at the coal dock. Looked like she headed east with only one 'scoop' of coal. Any ideas how far they plan to take her?

That is a good point, trainmaster Ed spent a lot of time up by the 315 talking to its crew and they were looking at the tender. That should be enough coal for at least Cumbres and back.

487 pulls today's 216 out right on time!

Later Goose 5 has made it up to Cumbres.


Shortly after 315X is approaching Coxo with smoke seen in valley.

Though this could also be 216 based on the time.

Fire and Rock patrol back in yard at 1:40 as it's very quiet at the depot.

Well the plan was for goose to do 2 round trips up to Cumbres today, but not seen it come back when I was watching. Guess we will need Larry S.'s video to see.
Here is comes and I got it.

215 is completing brake test before coming down the grade at 3:44.

463 bring the 215 in at 4:45. Looks like a full train too!

As 215 passes the tipple we see a full open gon.

Goose 5 is at Cumbres heading for the east wye switch at 6:08.

At 7:35 Goose 5 arrives in Chama.

Since Goose 5 will be heading to the loading ramp at the end of the line in the morning, to be trucked to Delores, no need to go to the wye. Goose 5 noses up to the museum box car.

Well, they still have not rewired the lights on the ramp between the depot and support building.

315 starts the day with hooking up to the stock cars and caboose that was in the North yard, then coming to the coal dock. Sanding, then they took one scoop of coal. Seemed to have some kind of issue perhaps, but they were kind of holding up the yard. Finally they moved back to the South yard to let Goose 5 come out and head up to Cumbres on the first trip of the day. Would love it if someone on the ground could fill us in on if there was any issues going on with 315. They did not come back during the day, and it's posted on NGDF that they went to Antonito.

Train 216 is next to depart, leaving what was a very busy yard kind of quiet.



Goose 5 returns from Cumbres after trip 1 of the day.



Goose 5 heads out on trip two to Cumbres, more of a sunset trip than anything, and as they wait at the North end of the yard 463 brings in train 215.



Goose 5 returns after dark, ending the days activity in Chama
