They were backing this locomotive into the west stall and the mid 40 temperatures created this shot.

Just a note from Larry Gibson on the 315 arrival. The process takes 2 hours to load in Durango, then a 3 1/2 hour drive, as it's 40mph maximum speed. At this point (as of a little while ago) they didn't know when a loco would be available to push onto the truck -- so arrival may be very late today, likely won't unload until morning if that is the case.

I really would not expect for the D&S to do anything until all 3 morning trains are out of town which should be around 9:30.

That was generally our conversation also - which is why we think it will be very late today before they get over to Chama, been trying to watch for anything in their yard cam over there, but lots of areas you can't see.

As of 2:00, the engine is on one truck and the tender on another, just as Sharon's picture showed. No movement since then.

OK, on the 1508 he is gone. Could he have been doing a photo runby for some reason? I have already seen 216 do one at Cascade trestle for the PBS crew.

The switching is basically to build 315's train. I'm not sure if there is any video being taken.

I wouldn't think 315 could take more than 5 cars up the hill.

Videos of the day --
216 Departure -
A speeder was brought in to the yard today, parked in front of the caboose on the Friends work track.
Train 215 Arrival - at the end we see Larry Gibson walking with new found Friend Bob Conry
464 moved 463 out of the West side shop to the East side lead after she had a boiler wash today.
There was quite a bit of switching after 215 came back from the wye, most in the South yard, but I'll try to find time to put a video of that together later today.
