463 is first to the ash pit this morning. With the need to get 463 to Antonito for the Geology Train, perhaps we'll get a doubleheader today - 8 car consist is setup on the main. We'll have to wait and see if anything more is added.

After its trip this morning to the pit, 463 backed to the east house lead.

Another interesting point to ponder, if they send 463 over as part of a double header, this will be I think, the first double header to go all the way to Antonito in a while on a scheduled train not extra like the photo freights.

Morning preparations:

Must make a correction, 216 has 8 cars today with a deadhead rider gon going to Antonito for the Geology train.

There is a crew back working on the switch by the wood shop where 487 derailed its tender.

Crew has now moved down by the water tank, perhaps working on a switch down there.

They just finished up what they were doing down at the water tower. I really believe that they replaced a tie by the wood shop.

Even if they required a double header tomorrow, the helper would cut off at the pass and run light to Antonito.

Well, required by train tomorrow may not be an issues since 463 has to get over for Saturday. I did not consider the fact that the helper would run light probably behind the 216. Who knows maybe they will just run 463 light engine like they did for opening day.

Does anyone know if they are filming another western scene in Chama ? Looks like some desperados on the loading platform.

Finally a few minutes of the track work replacing the tie on the switch near the wood shop.

489 was down in the North yard doing a lot of moving. Tank cars have been put back near the oil rack, and now a flanger has been brought up.



Looks like it may be another car being worked on in the upcoming work session.

Here's a video of the flanger move -- they did quite a bit of switching in the far North yard to dig this out.

There's a shoot-out tomorrow, for the train crowd. I don't have any particulars, but it will probably happen at Cumbres.

Thanks Doug, it would be interesting to know what the occasion is. Noticed a few of them riding in the open gondola this morning ( 06-17-16 ), heading for the shoot-out I'm guessing. Should be fun, thanks again.

Nice shot that includes some standard gauge cars coming up the old 3 rail trackage of the Santa Fe branch remnant.
