We've reached mid-week, and mid-month for June. Morning quiet will soon be broken by locomotive 489 getting ready to take train 216 out today. 487 should bring back the school train by mid-afternoon or so, and likely 484 will be in this evening with #215. Maybe some activity with 483 work as well.

Morning light kind of blotches the image, but looks like 487 is getting ready in Antonito.

Morning preparations for train 216, locomotive 489 will do the turn and burn today since its the only available locomotive in Chama. Remember at this point 463 is isolated in the east stall with the shoofly and 488 blocking the south side.

Extra coach went out on 216 yesterday also. Makes me wonder if they are ferrying the cars over for this weekends Geology Train. We will know this afternoon when 215 returns with 7 or 8 cars.

Just saw them load on that speeder by the wood shop what looked like the finished square support for the train order board. Now why they would transport it by speeder and not truck, I don't know. It is the fire patrol speeder.

Sharon, are you sure that "shoo fly" doesn't have a switch built into it?

Sure, no, but it sure looks like bare dirt just past the 'stop' sign that they have put on the east lead. Also if you look at the 4th and 5th photos that Doug took last evening the old lead track ends right where that wheelbarrow is parked.

It's difficult for me to see detail anymore but after a 2nd look I can see were the extension stopped last night. I have faith though that if '63 needed to make a "get away" that the crew has provided for that.

483 is in front of 463 at the east stall in the first pic.

Jeff I'm glad you caught the move. I've been sitting here all day waiting for the move, but had to go out for an hour -- cams have been freezing up on me, don't know if it's my net or the cams, but either way I missed the move. Can I ask for a re-do?

I wonder how they tied the 2 locomotives together since it was nose of 463 against the draw bar at the back of 483.

Here is a first for me to catch, the fire patrol speeder on the Cumbres CDOT cam. I would think he is behind 215 so we know its there.

Larry: The cams were behaving badly today. I had to refresh and relog many times.
Sharon: great catch at the pass and great question about how the pushing was done. I wondered about that, too.

Arrival of the student freight. Besides delivering cars to Antonito, it looks like it brought a few back with it.

Train 215 arrival: The fact that 215 came back with 7 cars answers the question I posed earlier today, were the extra coaches on 216 yesterday and today just deadheading, answer yes.

However they did it, they were able to move at a good fast walk speed. Really quite impressive.

Today's videos - #216 from this morning, then the school train arrival this afternoon, and a partial of 215 before another cam freezeup.

What else is impressive is that after all that time the wheels on 483 rolled as well as they did.

Doug, that is a shot of the drawbar which attaches the tender, but I still don't understand how they attached the front coupler on the 463 to that drawbar.

I was distracted and did not see the whole move. Unless they were assisted by other equipment, there must have been some pulling as well as pushing.
I'd love to know they did that. Maybe they constructed a device?

I, too, had wondered about that pilot/drawbar interface, but Doug's photo shows that they attached a coupler to the end of the drawbar on #483, so it was a simple matter to make the connection. That worked for both push and pull.

Yup, there's a couple on the end of the drawbar.
