Hey these are very interesting - thanks for posting them.
Did you happen to get any of how they are connecting the temporary rails the 483 is on to the permanent track?

I'm pretty sure they just switched the engine house lead over (disconnected and dragged), and will switch it back. I heard that the 483 was being moved for better access for the cosmetic restoration, but my info is usually 3rd hand gossip.

I'll see if I can get some better pics of the trackwork tomorrow. I'm on crutches, so I can't "all terrain" too well. :-)

Doug thanks for the pics - think I saw you on your crutches last week walking gingerly -- very much appreciate the efforts.

Do you know if they can move 488 so 463 could get out the South side of the shop if needed, or is she kind of "stuck" until the rails are put back?

Enjoy the day in paradise - a heck of a lot better then the mid 90's humid here!

She is kinda stuck, hence the pictures. I'm sure 488 could roll down the south lead far enough to free the 463, but it would be risky (in my opinion). Not sure how well those yellow dollies would take a turnout.

The sun angle is just right at this point and the shoofly is very evident.

Really hard to see exactly what's being done, but is it possible that they've re-installed the turnout that used to tie into the east stall lead? There is some urgency to get #463 "out of captivity" so she can get over to Antonito to pull this coming weekend's scheduled Geology Train.

With the 463, they can always pull the 488's hulk out of the way for 463 to exit via the south side.

In the morning's light there seems to be a completed section of track extending towards the east bay. When I turned the computer off last night that I didn't see that and thought that the area might have been restored back to they way it had been.

483 now back to near the shop door. Once again I give you a sped up video of the move. Total move time was about 28 minutes, 1 minute video here. If anyone wants the full move, let me know.

Does anyone know how many years 483 has been sitting there?

Any sense as to whether they'll pull the tender for 483 out of the swamp and add it to the restoration? And when do we start fundraising to put 483 back into service?!
