484 is at the ash pit just after 7 am local Chama time.

If that's 484 sitting in front of the engine house, it doesn't look very "hot".

I saw the bucket loader trundle a few scoops of coal to it earlier, but didn't get a capture.

We now have signs of life from the 484 and the Friends are pulling the tarps off the kitchen car.

Add: Just saw a Friend put the "blue flag" on the track that they are working.

Hopefully Larry is recording today since I have to go out for most of it.

Yes recording today - though I had a flash player crash earlier so not sure what was missed, will be looking and doing some editing this afternoon. I think our long winter of no activity days is finally over -- from now until end of season we should see activity daily!!!

484 just got a load of coal and then headed East out of the yard. Likely a short check ride, as they did with 487 the other day. We should see 463 maybe tomorrow, as they are due to head to Antonito later in the week.

Did we miss the 484 getting back to Chama. I was watching on the Cumbres CDoT cams around 1445 and never saw him up there.

With 484 still not back after 2.5 hours, is there a chance he is headed to Antonito?

The other day 487 left just before 11 am came back just after 1:30 pm, so I would say 484 still likely to come back.

And just as I hit submit I hear a whistle!!!

484 back, and a little different they come to the ash pit nose first instead of turning at the wye.

Here's what I have from this afternoon's movements. 484 takes on some coal, then heads out. A little over 2 1/2 hours later they return, and 484 pulls up to the shop "nose first" which is unusual.
For some reason lately using Firefox I keep getting "Flash plugin crash" which means I record lovely black boxes - so I didn't get anything from this morning. I've switched over to using Chrome for now until I figure out the problem, seems to have no dropouts. Will work on getting things solved on my days off this week, so no issues once we get into season.

Thanks to all who posted today! Larry, your recap caught a scene that is rare for sure; a loco going head first in from the east and stopping at the ash pit.

I only remember it one other time, it was when they were working on the yard switches, and I think they had a couple locomotives go that way to get to the wye. Always fun to see something other than the norm, and of course makes you curious as to why. Perhaps just ran out of time today, and didn't want to spend the crew time turning at the wye.

484 went up the hill and back for a shakedown on some minor problems with the running gear (rod bushings). She is otherwise ready.
