Holy smokes! I didn't realize how extensive the 1472 tear-downs actually are. Thanks for being our "fly on the wall" to give us an idea of what's been happening during the winter. Gives me a whole new appreciation for the skills of the C&TS shop crew.

Looks like the 488 is a long way from being finished.

See "Let The Sun Shine In" for other pics- I added them to an existing post. I dunno which locomotive is stripped, I'll find out. The tender of the 489 is to the rear, and the cab of the 489 is on the ground out back, I think. I'll report back.

Need to take a look at the headlight number boards on that stripped engine. It sounds strange that the 489 has its cab off. Makes one wonder if they found something wrong when they did the over winter inspection since its not due for the 1472.

Sharon, It is not that unusual for a cab to be removed as it makes access to areas needing attention that much more efficient. It cold be routine maintenance or something more critical.

We await further reports from our field reporter.

Sharon (and everyone) is correct- the stripped locomotive and cab are 488!!

Looks like they have moved the 488 back inside.
