I am starting to play around with a screen capture utility that came with my Corel VideoStudio Pro X8 and it seems to do a good job. With this I will be able to add video to my posts here.

I admire people who are willing to try new stuff, but sometimes the results may be less than they hoped.
Here's a screen-shot of what I see ....

Interesting since it plays fine for me when I click on it. Like you say, new stuff and have to get the kicks out of it, so that is why I am testing.

Sharon, you have a plug-in that the rest of us would need to see this.
I may be able to tweak this from the admin console. Will look tomorrow.

Sharon I can't get either of your files to play within the forum, I can download them and play them, I have the same basic view as Mike mentions - looking for a plugin. I tried Firefox, Chrome and IE - none of them work. I'm sure we can get the kinks worked out, will be great if you can post some video.

I also cannot view the video - did not try to download it. My browser complains that it is an unsupported plugin as well. But I suspect there is a way to get it to work - like the others suggest and I suppose this is a good time to work this sort of thing. John

Well I have to go along with all of you in that I have to download the clip to view it so need to keep at it to see what I need to do to get it to play in the site. Larry S. do you use bandi to record your video?

Sharon, I down loaded and viewed the file and the format has what for me is a real draw back. I tried the pause function, which I use a lot when viewing videos, and this program darkens the image when paused. I have age related vision problems and a darkened screen is a real drawback.

I'm able to DL and view the last upload with no problem. However, we won't be able to watch these directly from the forum page. You can't embed an attached video file. Photos work that way, but not videos. You'll also be limited in the file size. Our current platform just isn't designed to handle videos.
Larry is using an external site to host his videos and this is probably the easiest method. I could do something akin to TrainOrders.com where the videos are uploaded and hosted locally, but that requires some very high-end hardware/software, a ton of money free-flowing cash, and more free time than I have at the moment. So for the time-being, my recommendation is 3rd party hosting for video. YouTube is quite easy to use.

Well, let me amend my last comment a bit. Using Firefox and QuickTime, I can view the attached file as an embedded video.
Pretty cool.

I have noted that the Win10 media player does darken any video played when it is paused, so no way around this with downloaded files played that way.

As to off site hosting, how do YouTube links work here? I could upload the video to my YouTube account and link back to them.

Thanks Jason, I will try this to see what happens. This works fine and will post it once YouTube finishes processing.

Perfect!
Just don't put ol' Larry out of business. He's a good guy.

Have no intention of pushing Larry aside I will stay with stills. I was thinking more of being a backup so wanted to get the process down.

Works here Sharon. A good example of "persistance beats resistance" ! All you need now is some action to record ....

Sharon please feel free to continue with the video work -- there are times I'm sure you will catch something I don't. Especially in the off season I'm not always recording, and even in season when many things are happening it would be great having backup! We can discuss some teamwork on things for next season. Thanks so much for your efforts, it's very appreciated!

Sounds good Larry, look forward to doing the coordination on the work next season. I am planning now to go to one of the June or July work sessions.
