First out this am is 488. 463 is in the right stall and you can see smoke from the jack and looks like its headlight is on. I am going out so hopefully Larry S or someone else will grab shots of 216 as it leaves. By the time I did the grab looks like 463 is waiting its turn at the pit. If it turns out to be these 2 locomotives, will be interesting to see which one is road and which helper.

I'll be here all morning, so I can do some screen grabs Sharon. Looks like a 2nd locomotive ready lined up behind 488 now.

As noted above we will see the 463 again today after it brought the MoW train back yesterday. My guess is that it will be helper to 488 up the hill.

Looks like they faked us out, 463 will be the road engine, 488 the helper.

Doing about 10 things at once this morning, but looks like they just brought out another coach - if so we now have an 11 car consist.

It is good to see that so many people want to ride during the autumn to see the aspen gold.

215 today was 9 cars with 489 leading. 488 had come out of the house and is sitting on the lead that goes by the roundhouse. In the second shot on the left side you can see all 4 K36's, 489 is on 215, 488 is sitting on the lead and 487 and 484 are both in front of the left house door.

Will keep watching a little longer, 487 just shoved 484 through the left side of the house and out back. Then 487 comes out and backs onto the still hot 488 and takes it over to the left side of the house.

As it was a particularly interesting morning to watch the yard action, I decided to edit a couple of videos from the morning. They will be in the next post.

I would also like to put here a reminder -- we have a wonderful treasure here. A railroad with an open yard you can go into, wander around and photograph to your hearts content, with very little restriction. Please be aware of your surroundings at all times!!!! As I was editing, I noted that on the way from the ash pit to water 487 had to stop short, you'll hear a loud whistle toot. A photographer with a tripod was obviously too close for comfort to the track. Hard to see in the shadows, but right after the whistle toot he got out of the way quick.

As a photographer that has been in some situations where I had to watch my surroundings, I realize how easy it is to be concentrating so much on getting a good photo, you lose focus of your surroundings. It's easy to do even for the best among us. So please, a reminder, just be aware, be safe and constantly PAY ATTENTION!!!!!!

First of two videos - 488 and 463 doing the normal morning trips for water and coal. Great steam in the morning cool air.

This one runs a little over 16 minutes, but what a busy sequence in the morning. All four locomotives active - 488 and 463 continue to prepare for the doubleheader, 487 and 484 both visit the ash pit and for water, as well as the front end loader busy at work unloading something from a pickup truck and moving around. About an hours worth of activity into the 16 minute clip.
