It looks like a double header for sure. I can't tell how many cars exactly but a good one for the railroad. I would also like to thank both of the Larry's and Sharon Evans for all of your posts, pictures and videos this season. Also a big shout out to Jason Rose and crew; very much appreciated.

You are welcome Bill! It's been a pleasure helping out in a small way to document the daily activities for the archive.
Glad you have enjoyed our team efforts. Larry G
As you said a doubleheader and large crowd waiting to go east on the 216:

You are more then welcome Bill. With retirement comes more time to do things that you really love to do and watching the C&TS is high on that list as is going there. Anyone catch the helper and road engine for this 10 car 216?

Thank you sir! It's been a fun season, and I also truly appreciate all the efforts of Larry G, Sharon, Jeff and others who have helped keep track of our favorite railroad daily! Three more busy weeks ahead!!!
Should be a 10 car consist this morning unless they added something else.

I just got home Sharon, helper is 487 I'll add in the road engine after I review the video real quick.
488 is the road engine. Also they did more passenger coach switching --- with all the smoke I can't be sure, looks like they added two more, but I think they took one back to the South yard. We could have 11 cars here -- but I am not positive.

Reply to my own question, will all the pops I would say 487 is road and 489 is helper. We will know soon enough. There are a lot of people milling about getting ready to shoot the departure.
Larry you going to do the grabs, I don't want to duplicate you?

I'll be recording, I leave the stills up to the experts!!!!! I only add those usually when I see nobody else has. Also no real worry about duplication, sometimes two is better than none.

Well then, looks like 488 has a case of the 'pops' as well since it is going off a lot. I just got a rough count. Looks like 4 of the older coaches with normal train so that is 11.

Still from earlier when 488 was coaling, and 487 waiting.

With 11 cars and 2 locomotives the helper is almost to the coal tipple just waiting.

487 and 488 are by the tipple on today's 11 car 216. There almost looked like enough people watching to departure to fill another coach.

Wonder what that plane is buzzing the area?

Interesting the plane is still in the area long after the train left. Going to send the sounds to one of my aero guys, probably can ID what it was.

Waiting to see if I can get a good smoke shot down the valley from the Cumbres cams. See something on the latest update will continue to watch. We ought to get a good shot at the summit with this long a train. Remember this cam is still on 'standard' time.
Well you can barely see the back of the tender but can't miss that plume of smoke.

Looks like more switching is in the offing. 489 is in the south yard. No switching, after sitting coupled to the cars on south yard 1, 489 is back in the house.

Looked like the car toads were checking the freight cars. I assume the engine was providing air.

Very good possibility since they did this once before.

Happy to be of service, Bill.
Let me take a moment to ask everyone that enjoys the cameras to consider coming to a Work Session next summer. The railroad needs our help. Donations are essential and greatly appreciated, but we also need "boots-on-the-ground" to do the work of preserving and maintaining the Cumbres & Toltec/D&RGW.

Here's today's video review -
09-26-15 Train 216 departs as a doubleheader, with 487 being the helper and 488 the road locomotive. 11 car consist, looked pretty full. Plane buzzing the area around the yard near the end of the videos, stayed there for several minutes after the train departed. Anyone local can let us know what was flying there?
09-26-15 Speeder and helper return. About 12:35 the fire speeder showed up, followed maybe 15 minutes later by 487 back from helper duty.

While 487 sits a depot the headlight and near full moon project an interesting display in the north yard.
