Though some areas have been back to school for weeks, today is traditionally the first day of school in many parts of the country. Stay safe - and be patient with those school buses!

In Chama today is back to school for the Engineer/Fireman school students, with #484 getting the early morning preparation for the student train. Today's trip is to Antonito.

I wonder if this is a teacher playing hooky today? looks like a great day to ride.

Today's 216 had 489 leading, that whistle is unmistakable.

Here's today's video review -

09-08-15 Starting with a group photo, then 484 pulls the final regular Engineer/Fireman school train up the hill. (Advanced school is next). Quite a smoke show this morning. As the train pulls out, 489 makes the trip to the ash pit - barely seen through all the smoke.

09-08-15 Train 216 Departs right on time, with 489 in the lead.

Also seen today (not part of videos) 463 was out this morning to the ash pit/water tank. Went inside the shop for a few hours before coming back out and now on the left side shop track. Unseen today was #487.

The cool morning air allowed for a "Smoketacular" departure on the school train today. Thanks Larry for posting this one and the others for those who missed it live.

You're welcome sir! I thought that was one of the better looking departures of the season so far.
