With 463 and 484 both hot, and based on the cars setup on the main we likely will have a doubleheader today. 487 also out, thanks for the alert Doug! Also remember the Engineer/Fireman school train should return this afternoon around the time that 215 returns. A busy day ahead for the railroad!

463 is at that ash pit now so will probably be the road engine today. 484 has now moved to the pit.

Sure is! Looks like 484 is about to move 487 now.

The 484 has now backed down and is coupling to the 487 and moving it over to the right engine house lead as we look at it and shoved it into the house. Also the 463 is getting sand added over on the main.

The 463 is at the 216 and 484 is backing down to get to the coal dock on this very busy Wednesday morning.

Not only a double header but it looks like a 9 car train since 463 has gotten another of the older coaches from the south yard and attached it to the 2 that were already on the main. Oh to be chasing this train today, what a sight it is going to make headed up to Cumbres and around Windy Point.

I think we'll be at 10 cars -- they came in with 8 yesterday, after the wye turn they cut off with one, added one from the South yard so we had 9 on the main overnight, added one car this morning for 10 total! Either way 9 or 10 fully agree with you Sharon, hopefully someone will be out there with a camera today!

I am counting 6 coaches along with the snack bar, open gon, tourist car and parlor so 10 it is today. This raises the interesting point, can 463 bring 10 cars back tomorrow up the east slope?

Jeff,
You seem to have good luck with the Cumbres captures!!! I was looking at the south yard a few moments ago and was struck by how empty it looks today with the extra cars on 216 out and the student train set out. Seldom see it so empty. Larry

Front end loader has made a half dozen trips from the coal pit to what I believe is 487.

Did you see the 484 move the 487 again because this morning it was placed into the right, as observed, stall and this engine is on the left side. Has a plow so maybe 489.

Yes 487 was moved out again and is now on the left side, 484 moved it again when it came back from helper duties.

What an amazingly busy day for this little railroad we all love! Thanks to all for the coverage today, great weather for all the riders as well. Pretty extensive on the videos today -- hopefully I covered all -- if I missed something please say so!!!

07-22-15 The day started with 463 going to the ash pit first, followed by 484. After the usual morning cleaning 484 backed to get #487, now out of hiding, and brought her into the right hand shop bay.
Also note 463 getting sand delivered while sitting out on the main.

07-22-15 As 463 finishes getting coaled, 484 comes up the main after getting water - very coordinated crews this morning with the switching and keeping things moving.

07-22-15 In what I think was the fun looking move of the day - 484 had finished coaling, and was back on the main as 463 brought another coach from the South yard. 463 wasn't about to stop - so 484 had to get out of the way fast!!!! Well, not really of course, and not as close I'm sure as it appears on camera -- maybe the engineer on 463 drives in Houston traffic??? Then again it's just as bad here! Anyway, to me it's just fun to watch this one.

07-22-15 Doubleheader departure with 484 as the helper and 463 as the road engine. Also seems like 463's whistle sounds a lot better today.

07-22-15 - 484 returns "light" with the fire control speeder chasing close behind.

Image

07-22-15 After stopping at the ash pit, 484 once again pulls 487 out of the right hand bay, and moves her over to the left side. As of the time of this posting - about 6:20 local time, 487 is still cold, so perhaps will be steamed up tomorrow.
Image

07-22-15 After a trip to Antonito and an overnight stay, 489 brings in the school train.

07-22-15 As 489 comes through the back door to the ash pit, the speeder is still there - as the worker was cleaning out the ash pit for an hour or so. After getting the speeder moved, 489 sits at the ash pit as 488 brings in train 215

Great work Larry with today's video update!! 463 really came along with that coach causing the 484 to scoot away. Great sequence caught.
