6-29-15 Monday starts busy

Unread postby Sharon Evans » Mon Jun 29, 2015 8:20 am

Well 484 is starting its day doing some switching in the south yard. Looks like 2 open gons are headed over to Antonito on 216 today.

Thanks Sharon.

That was an interesting departure with 48? at the tank and the ensuing whistle exchange.

Posting the departure video early today, as I won't be around later. Will try to have 215 arrival and any other movements posted in the morning. Jason it was 489 that was down at the tank this morning.

Thank you, sir. I've been glancing at the cams on rare occasion this morning and didn't catch what locomotive was where. Too much activity, not enough functioning brain cells...

Anyone watching as 215 arrived? I noticed that just after he blew for 17 he did about 4 very quick, short blasts which sounded more like a warning vs a greeting. Wonder if someone ran the crossing ahead of the train.

215 has arrived and as the passengers are going their many ways, the cleaning crew is wasting no time getting on board to start their duties.

Sharon - thanks for the coverage. I've heard that same 4 short blasts in the past and have wondered the same thing. Will see if I have that recorded when I get home, and add it to the video - so others can comment as well.

Sharon I did some searching around tonight and came up with this - created by the Friends in 2007 - so not sure all the info is up to date, but page 23 has the whistle signals -- and the 4 short blasts mean Call for Signals -- hope this helps. http://cumbrestoltec.com/wp-content/upl ... s-2007.pdf

Here's the 215 Return videos. Sharon that toot sounds more like a hello there to my uneducated ears -- but we'll let others that want to comment as well.
