06-21-15 Summer Sunday, Real GNEISS Day:)

Unread postby Larry Gibson » Sun Jun 21, 2015 7:48 am

On the first Sunday of summer, looking out at the mountains, finds 489 at the tank heading for the coal dock. After coaling 489 backs out onto the main and prepares for today's 216. Later the track speeder prepares to depart after a little clean up on the ashpit walk-way. At 10:05 216 pulls away from the depot as several photographers, including one who takes a perch on the sandbox, snap away while the train clears the yard.

Continue to check in for updates and Larry's video summary of today's activities.

Fire danger must be real low since the speeder has not been pulling the water tank lately.

463 cuts off and heads for the ashpit as 484 brings the 215 coach set back from the wye. If today is any indication, the PROSPECTS are great for many fun times still to come in 2015.

After cutting off from the coaches 484 moves over beside the roundhouse storage track. Then takes caboose behind 463 to the water tank. 484 drops the caboose at the swamp and returns after a watered 463 heads for the shop. Then 484 heads for servicing routine.

And to finish the day here are today's videos.

06-21-15 Train 216 Departure. Rather small crowd today, but perhaps due to the nearly sold out Geology train.

06-21-15 Train 215 arrived about 20 minutes after the Geology train.

06-21-15 With two trains in the yard, they both needed turning at the wye then both locomotives went for servicing.
