05-27-15 Another nice weather day

Unread postby Larry Sullivan » Wed May 27, 2015 9:16 am

Looks like the rainy weather of last week is gone at least for a few days. A bit lighter crowd on the train today as may be expected mid week at this point in the season. Some Friends members working around the tank cars.

Nice videos Larry! Happened to look in at 3:30 local time and saw 489 run back from the water tank and move a locomotive over to stall 4 from 3. Some shop work before 215 comes in today.

Later, about 4:50, 488 brings the coach set back from the wye. As servicing and cleaning activities begins it cuts off and heads for the ashpit and evening service. Check back later for Larry's arrival videos.

Following the ashpit 488 runs to the water tank. In first picture spout is lowered in water hatch for filling. Later 488 backs up a few feet and spout is lowered In the coal bin to wash the dust out? (Have not noticed this before.) Then backs down in front of stall 3. Please Check back later for Larry's arrival videos.

A late addition as the CDOT cam picked up 215 just before departure from
Antonito today.

Sorry for the lateness of the post tonight, had some real life things get in the way of fun today! Videos of the day activity today include some locomotive shuffling. 463 pulls a cold 489 from the shop and spots it on the left side, then heads down for water. 489 is fired up and about two hours later returns the favor with pulling 463 over to the left side stall, then stays parked in front of 463 - though later it appears 463 was hot again, though could be just all the smoke from 489 made it look that way. Later Train 215 returns about on time.
