As of 6:30AM, #484 has a full head of steam and looks like she's ready to head out to Antonito today.

Sure looks like it - question is will they haul any cars with them, watching and waiting for the answer!

#484 is prepared for the days work. I let the video run a bit while at the ash pit, nice smoke show and sounds of a living breathing machine!

Any idea why they sent it around the 'y'?

Wondering the same thing Sharon - looks like they are now hooking to the RPO - "backwards"

They have pulled the open gon and caboose out and put the RPO back into the station stub.

Well they are off, tender first with the open gon and caboose.

Video of all the moves will be in work - 484 headed out of town tender first with the open gondola and caboose in tow. Would really love to know the purpose of going tender first.

After coaling, 484 heads to the wye to be turned. Once back, they hook up to the trio of cars that have been on the depot track, bring all 3 cars to the main then bring the RPO back to the depot track. Once back on the main track they hook up to the open gondola and caboose.
#484 departs - tender first - for Antonito

Interesting note - 484 may not have gone to Antonito - hearing a whistle someplace out of sight.

Sounds like they are out at the cabins practicing their whistling.

Last fall we had a similar day, and word was that someone was recording whistles, as I remember. This could be something like that again.
Whatever it is, I think we can for sure say that 484 isn't going to Antonito - so I stand corrected on my earlier commenting.

Well it does not seem that 484 is coming back, or at least not yet.

Notice pickup with trailer making a move by stall 3 also as train comes in.

A few moments later 484 cuts off the caboose and gon, then moves to ashpit in reverse of normal direction as forklift unloads truck and trailer.

After clearing ashpit 484 went nose to door of stall one. Appears work is finished for the day. Did not water at the tank....

Thank you Mr. Gibson for the captures, I had to be at that dreaded place called work!
Here's video of the moves as described. It is interesting they didn't turn the loco at the wye - perhaps they have more plans for tomorrow.

Makes you wonder where they were all day and again why they did this with 484 facing west.
