Clouds of blue smoke behind the engine house, shortly after 7:00 this morning, would seem to indicate that the diesel is getting ready for action today.

Yup, she's now doing some switching in the yard.

Most definitely #15 is at work today. Clearing all the cars from track in front of the depot.

Here are some captures through about 10:30 AM local time. Looks like they are reordering the yard by moving the coaches out of winter storage location. Museum & storage cars also removed.

#15 just had 463's tender over at the coal dock, loaded with coal and brought back to the rear of the shop. Perhaps we'll see some steam soon!!

I have to head out to work, will continue recording of any of the days action - will post later if anything interesting is seen.

Unfortunately I got on line just as #15 was finishing up.
Thanks for getting vids of todays activities.
It really helps us who cannot be on site.
Is there a project coming up that is going to be using #463?
At about 2:00pm mst, I heard an eagle calling out.
Are Eagles nesting in the Chama area or just passing through?
Thanks for any info.

I forgot to ask if anyone else noticed that if you first go to view the yard and activity, that if your time is not used up looking and you go to the board index, the sound will continue until the yard timer runs out?

Yes, it's been an interesting day, and I'm sure there's more to come in the weeks ahead. Don't know if #463 is scheduled for any particular activity, but they do need to move it out of stall #1 at some point so they can put the tenders back with #'s 488 and 484. There are still some tests that need to be done as part of their annual inspections, and they can't be completed until the engines are under steam.

As far as hearing sounds while you still have time left on viewing the yard cams, you'll continue to hear them until the cam view times out, even if you go to a totally different website. If you don't want to hear them, mute them on the webcam screen using the volume control in the lower right-hand corner.

Glad to provide the videos Alan - if all goes to plan, I'll have every movement recorded this season. I'll be starting a 2015 archive thread once we see some steam and I get a few videos to toss in there.

As to the birds I've heard eagles, as well as herons going by quite often, along with some Canada Geese at one time. If you see Rogers postings, he has been posting Bald Eagle pics as well as Herons, they are defiantly in the area. Perhaps not nesting, but flying by for sure.

One more bit of movement I didn't notice yesterday. Early in the morning, the caboose which had been behind the tender nearest the roundhouse was moved out and brought to the back of the shop.

Thanks Larry & Ed for the info.
I see #463 outside the engine house in steam!
