North Camera Focus Issue

I'm aware of the problem and have been working to resolve for a few days. Thought I had it fixed once, but it was messed up again the next day. I believe the issue is the dirt on the lens contrasting with the snow.

I have engaged tech support.

No luck with tech support. I've already worked through everything they suggested.

The solution is simply to clean the lens cover. I'm KICKING myself for not doing that when I was there in November. I'll make it SOP to clean them every time I'm in town in the future.

At the moment I have no hope for a quick resolution, but will continue to adjust the lens when time permits. I may get lucky.

Might have to live with this for a while...

Thanks Jason for the post. No matter how hard you try, you can never remember to do everything. Thanks for you diligence.

When you said Tech support, I thought you were going to send Mr. Forney or Mr. Stabler out to look at it! Thanks for trying.

I highly doubt ANYONE is going out there at this time of year. I jokingly asked my wife last night if I could "run" up there this weekend to clean the lens cover. Her look was all the answer I needed. Didn't really want to drive 2000 miles to do 10 minutes worth the work anyway. My insanity has limitations.

For what it's worth, I'd trust Mr. Forney over just about any tech support geek. While Mr. Stabler is a true gentleman and a good friend, I think you meant Joe Kanocz, Rich Murray, or John Engs.

Thanks for the kind words, Jason.
I'm in Durango killing bedbugs (don't ask) and expect to return to Denver late this week. If you can round up a ladder and helper I could wipe it off with my hankie.

Thanks, Steve. I'll fire off some emails tomorrow.

Please don't go to any trouble though. It's just a minor annoyance that can certainly wait for spring.

You should have mentioned you would take the little one along for an outing!

:) I don't think that would have "Played well in Roseland"
(you'll need some years under your belt to appreciate that attempt at humor)

We'll need a few years of bedtime stories about a magical place called "Chama" before I'll be able to take the young'un on a 15 hours trip.

We got lucky. The light conditions this morning allowed me to properly focus the camera past the dirt on the lens. I have turned off some of the auto-focus features now so that, hopefully, the lens will stay as it is when the light changes.

Please let me know via email if you see anything really odd happening. I'll watch as often as I can, but real life and work take precedence.

Thanks.

I looks as if someone cleaned the lens plate.
What a difference!
Thanks Jason.

Jason, what about spraying RainX on the lens? Just a wild idea, and if it is good enough for your car's windshield, maybe it could work there, too? Otherwise, love the new additions of the web cams! I'll spread the "word" at my end.

Interseting idea, Farol. I'll see what the tech specs say about it.

Thanks.
