I am eating crow for breakfast. 489 is now down by the water tank, taking on water from what I had thought would have been a drained tank. In other news, according to a post on the NGDF by John Bush, we'll see 488 back in Chama late today with four coaches. The C&TS will be running trains from Chama to Lobato on December 6 and 13, with free rides for those who bring contributions to area food banks. Not only is this a great thing to do for the needy folks in the area, but we confirmed train addicts will get to see some more action. :smiley24:

She looks good with the D&RGW lettering and logo. Sounds great too.

Now at coaling dock.

Edwin - you're right more than you are wrong, don't eat too much crow! I would have thought the tank would have been a block of ice, but I guess it goes to show it's well insulated.

About 8:45am local time #489 leads four passenger cars out for this years hospital train. As posted above, #488 is expected back later today with four passenger cars in tow. I likely won't be here for that arrival, as I have to head to work about 3pm my time. Will look forward to the trains in December, hopefully the weather will cooperate, the trains full and the food banks get lots of donations!

The train just arrived with a handful of coaches. It stopped for a few
minutes in front of the depot and is now heading towards the wye.

488 returned from the wye, made a switch move at the depot. Next headed to the ashpit and into the Enginehouse to complete the day. Appears little or no smoke from chimney after going inside. Stills attached:

OK, so 489 took 4 coaches and the cars from yesterday to Antonito and the 488 brought 4 coaches to Chama from Antonito. I am confused since I thought that car repair was done in Antonito. :-?

I believe those cars came from Antonito with 488 and were probably not in need of any repair or have already received whatever repairs were needed. They have to have something in Chama for the Christmas trains next month.
