#487 comes out of the shop this morning, stops at the ash pit then for water. As #487 is taking on water, #488 comes to the ash pit and prepares for the daily train. #487 did not take on coal, but proceeded down to the area of the wye, judging by the smoke, have heard the whistle a few times down there - will be interesting to see what they come back with. #488 proceeded as normal, coaled and is now holding until they hook up to the passenger cars.

Train 216 Departs on time, #487 came up behind 216 before departure. After 216 departed, #487 heads out pushing 3 gondola's of ballast.

Train 216 - South Camera Departure - did you notice the doubleheader?

Train 216 - North Camera Departure

#487 Departs with 3 Gondola's for a ballast project I assume.

About an hour later, #487 returns with the 3 now empty gondola cars.

That's it for now, nice action this morning -- and the cool weather made for a great steam show!

You're welcome John, glad they came back from the wye when they did so I could catch it.

To finish out the days coverage.............

#487 heads out with a 2nd load of ballast in the 3 gondola cars (at least the 2nd load, may have been something else while I was away I didn't catch).
Image

#487 Returns with the empty gons, stopping for water. Tender getting a little empty of coal too, they never took on coal this morning.
Image

Train 215 arrives right on time, with #484 in the lead.
Image

#487 comes back from the wye with more ballast in the gondola cars, spots them for the night, and then heads for the shop after a hard day of working on the railroad!

Quite the busy day.
