7-7 AM, "Mixed" train

This morning, after pulling the passenger consist forward to loading position, #488 cut off and went forward to pick up the reefer that we've seen spotted up by the tie stacks for the past couple days. It's now at the head end of #216's consist for the day, making this a "mixed train". Nice splash of color! :proceed:

The Rio Grande routinely used reefers at the head of the train to deliver goods to the Section Houses on the route. This morning's train is somewhat reminiscent of that, esp if the reefer is being used to haul supplies to Cumbres.

Took a peek to see it go out. "Mixed Train Daily"- 2014 Style- Lucius Beebe would be proud!!:)
