06-25-14 Evening Yard Movements

Came back after dinner to find 488 with the newly primed gondola car, as well as two other cars headed down to the North end of the yard. Backing into the swamp, and by the sound coupling several cars (or a hard to couple car) eventually pulled out a long line of cars ending up with what I believe is Derrick OP? This is now spotted down by the end of the yard near Gramps Oil Dock. All the other cars were moved back into the swamp. Lots of movements out of sight of the camera, especially in the 2nd video that I'll put here -- but I let it run for the great sound effects!

Thank you so much for posting these videos. All the action in the yard is very interesting and with the new microphones you really get a chance to hear just what is going on.
I wish someone would make a video of what the "Swamp" looks like and some of the other parts of the yard that you cannot see from the web cam. Also are you going to put your videos in a thread like you did for 2013 at the top of the index? That was a great idea and it is fun to look at some of the old videos.

Again thank you for your effort and time making these videos.

Here are some photos of "the Swamp" and Engine House as seen from the Coal Tipple.

As soon as time allows, I will set up a video archive that members will have access to. It's my hope to have all daily train movements as well as all other movements auto-captured and auto-archived. It'll be a lot of work to build, but it'll be a pretty neat feature for Friend's Members. If you aren't already a member, why not?

Jason - Thanks for those great photos, I've wondered what that area looked like myself.

Gary -- I have been thinking about adding some of the better videos to that one video thread. I can tell by the numbers how many people still go back and look at the ones from last year, still get quite a few views. In the next day or two I'll have a discussion with Jason as to how he wants to handle it, start a new thread, or keep on using the same -- and will get it together.

Those photos are great Jason! Having never been to Chama I've always wondered what "the swamp" looked like. Any chance of getting the south camera angled slightly left of where it is pointed currently to give a better view of the ashpit? The view in picture # 3 would be perfect.
A guy can ask.....right?

The camera angles are set. It was a Board decision and it's done.

However, I'll bring it up again next summer and see what they say. As you point out, it never hurts to ask.
