OM Being Moved

OM is being moved from it's display location to down past the coal loading dock. It looks unhappy being shoved by the front-end loader....not a very noble way of moving for one so old and venerable.

Interesting. She was moved to a area that is used by the Friends for work projects but, there is nothing on the schedule.

Probably a dumb question (I have not walked that part of the Chama yard)- but I watched them on the cam put in the new ready track awhile back - it did not look like there was a switch or turnout to the rip track the 483 is on. I was wondering how they would move the 483 to the station track for display?

The spur that 483 is sitting on is connected to the track going into the Engine House. The switch is near the door and there's usually a locomotive on it or near it.

Somewhere I have a photo. Just need to find it.

EDIT:

I've been told that switch may not have been put back. I don't know for sure. Does anyone else?

I read on another board the switch wasn't put in but can be when it is time to move her.

Tom and Jason

Thanks a bunch for clearly that up - I could never find a picture that clearly showed there was one there before either.

You need to elaborate on that statement or I might begin to question your sanity.

By the way, the Friend's office has no record of your membership. You might want to call them and sort that out.

Are you saying there is an effort underway to restore 268 to service? If so, what are the details?
