This morning while watching the double header leave I was impressed by the new microphone. We could hear the whistle at first crossing no problem. Then what sounded like an 'hell-o" to Mrs Bodette. The chugging could be heard well beyond that and maybe more but, my sound system isn't up to the task.
And that's with only one of the mics hooked up!!

Indeed - notes about miscellaneous unwanted sounds notwithstanding - the new mic is great.

That begs a question - is there a plan for a mic on the North camera? When I'm listening on the iPad in mobile mode I can only have one camera running so I miss sounds when watching the North camera.

Bruce, both cameras have mics. However, the north cam isn't working right. When time permits, someone on the team will work to fix it.
