May 26 Departure

That was really nice. It's been a long winter and I sure missed the cameras.

It's not as good as being there, but it's nice to see what's happening when real life keeps me home.

Here's to a profitable and safe 2014 season.

This morning there were three k36 locomotives hot in the yard. On the other side of the shop are 463 and 315. Five locomotives in working order.

For those that weren't able to watch live this morning here's the video of today's departure.

Image

I won't post these daily, but will try to catch unusual movements, doubleheaders, etc. I have the luxury of being able to be at home many days during the morning preps and departure, so even when I don't post I may indeed record some events. If you want something let me know and I'll try to get it posted if I have it.

I will say this -- and to go along with the comment John Cole made yesterday --- I noted 144 people as a high count this morning watching the cams, hopefully some will send some contributions in to help keep them going, we know what it's like to be without them for two or three weeks, and knowing they would be back, let's make sure they stay around for a while!

How many steam locos are operable and how many are ready for service on the RR.
Do you happen to know the numbers on the locos?
Thanks for any info you can give us.

Allen - 489 was the road locomotive this morning, 484 is the one hot on the left side in that video. There is another loco behind 484 which was pulled/pushed from the right bay to the left bay just before departure - I didn't catch that number. Also as per Joe's post above, 463 and 315 also in Chama.

Someone else would have to answer for what may be in the Antonito side.

Hope that helps!

I've seen 484,487,488,489, 463 all at work this season. All look excellent. So a big thank you to Avery in Chama, Marvin in Antonito and the shop crews.

Also the 315 guys need to be commended. It looks and runs great.

Thanks to all who worked to get the cameras back working again. Weeks without my C&TS daily fix over at last! Seems hard to believe they've been in operation for less than two years.....how did we exist before??

:proceed:
