From the looks of the smoke pouring out of the engine house stack, I think we can expect to see #484 out and about again today. Joe K has posted some interesting information over on the NGDF. Check it out.

Here's the same info. The railroad posted on Facebook that 484 will be going to Antonito during the off season. 484 will be undergoing testing and test runs to from Chama. Once it's done, there will be a run over the line to Antonito. And 484 will then spend the winter in Antonito. The next day 489 will be coming to Chama for the winter.
The only equipment in Chama right now is Friends maintained non-revenue equipment. In another words there are no red coaches. The railroad is willing to take anyone paying on this run. I haven't heard a ticket price or the exact date of the runs.
However this is a unique time. There could or could not be snow. 484 does have a plow on it. The consist could simply be 579. However if something logical is proposed, I think it would be considered.
Anyone going on this run as a paying passenger would experience something much different than during the normal season. I don't think there have been any runs over the line in December or late Nov in a long time. And any revenue at this time of year is a bonus.

484 now outside of the engine house. Came out to about the switch, then backed up to the door again.

Quick video of the first move - they've done it 3 times now. As a reminder for those not following before, just click the picture it will take you to the video.
3rd trip out and back, no real difference than 1st video, but a bit better smoke show. Obviously testing/adjusting as needed.

Just a quick observation that one of the speeders has left the yard - perhaps to check the track prior to 484 doing a test run?

I wasn't here for a bit, but by the smoke it appears 484 is now back inside the engine house. Seemed they were working in the left front area of the locomotive while it was outside, not sure if it's just the lighting or if it's a large amount of water on the ground where they were sitting. Hopefully nothing more than a grumpy locomotive after waking up from it's long nap.
484 back outside again at 1:30 Chama time.
