It looks like the 484 is smoking this morning in front of the engine house. I will let the rest of you capture some pictures and video.

Is the 484 going somewhere today, or is steaming some element of maintenance?

AFAIK, this is the first time she'll be under full pressure following her rebuild. There will undoubtedly be a lot of things to check out before she ventures out on her own, but it's great to know that she'll be ready for the next season!

I really do not like being a wet blanket but....
I think that's 487. Hope I'm wrong though, it will be cool to see '84 under pressure.

Nope that really is 484. It's back!

So watch the cams. Over the next few weeks there will be test runs of 484. And a very good source said it could possibly be going all the way to Antonito for the winter.

487 was pushed into the left side of the engine house that Wednesday we had all the movements, with no tender -- which is still parked outside. What is assumed to be 484 (never confirmed the number that day) was pushed into the right side of the engine house - and coal loaded into the tender. So the assumption would still be 484, though you folks are more expert than I by far as far as identifying these locomotives from a distance. I'll verify the 487 movement to the left side when I get home and can review the video of that day.

Thanks Joe - I was slow typing on my Kindle as you posted the pic! Will be watching the cams for sure for the movements!

Rich,

Some of the guides I picked up when I was there last summer shows the 484 with a plow that is very similar to the one on the 487 (as we can see in Joe's picture. I don't know when or how long it has been on.

;-) John, '84 has been in the engine house for more than a week, my old memory banks can't handle that!

Just before 4:00PM MST, she rolled back into the engine house under her own power. Now the door is closed and I expect that she'll be getting some tweaking before they turn her loose again. Good to see her, though, after slightly over a year in the rebuilding process. Congratulations to Mr. Bush and his able crew for breathing renewed life into the roster! :proceed:
