Hi Larry,

Thanks again for capturing what is going on. I don't recognize the car they are loading right now. Any idea where they might be taking the cars?

John

Car now positioned on the trailer.

John happy to be able to help capture some of the images of the happenings. I don't know where the cars are headed, it has been asked before and may have been answered in another thread and I missed it.

The car being moved this morning is the Hinman Coach, which according to another thread will be headed for the Georgetown Loop. I have no idea what the two cars were that moved earlier, or where they were going. Couldn't have been too far, since the flatbed was back in Chama fairly quickly. I notice that not only have they moved 487's tender, but a locomotive has been pulled out of stall #1 of the engine house.

488 tender now spotted behind 487's tender. Now looks like they are going to put 488 back to the engine house.

Not going to the engine house, parked outside near roundhouse.

487 now out and about to the ash pit. Nice to see two locomotives out and about, even though not under steam.

Third locomotive now out of the engine house, came out of the left side, now being moved into the right side - they didn't come out far enough to see a number.

Thanks Larry for showing and describing all these scenes.
It was quite a suprise to log on and see all the changes.
It really helped to fill in the blanks.

Final short video of the day - movement of the 3rd locomotive out of the engine house.

489 took the hospital train to Antonito and never returned that I know of, 487 and 488 are outside, so I guess this is 463 - though they have changed the headlight again if so.

You're welcome Allan -- car was in the shop today getting some needed work, so was kind of stuck at home. I saw a few workers show up this morning about 5:30am Chama time, so figured something was up for the day. Didn't expect all we got though!

Bucket loader bringing a load of coal over and putting into the tender of the 3rd loco. Perhaps will have a hot engine soon.

Now 2nd load of coal being brought over.

Well that's just not fair to us railfans!! Two buckets of coal loaded, now back inside the engine house -- so maybe no steam show today.

That's it for me for the day, headed out for the evening, so if anyone sees anything please post to complete the day!

Hope all enjoy!

Thanks Larry,! Wonderful documentation. Do you need some eye drops after this?

Larry, thanks for your coverage today. I only got to catch a couple quick peeks today, so your captures filled in a lot of blanks! I'm pretty sure that the 3rd engine you saw was a K-36, and with 489 in Antonito and 487 and 488 accounted for in Chama, might it at long last be 484? :-? Had a shiny plow on the front end.

Thanks - it was a fun day, had to be at the computer anyway catching up on some writing and such, so the cameras were a nice change of pace to add to it. Funny how eye straining it is to work, but not to do something you enjoy!

Looks like today (Thursday) was a pretty quiet day, now it's back to the weekly grind for me.

Edwin - thank you for your insight. I had totally forgotten about 484 which has been spoken of many times over the summer. I still have a lot to learn about this railroad!!!
