Airgun Noise

For the last three days or so, an airgun/impact noise has been coming from the engine house.

I'm just curious because it's fairly steady, for what seems 10-12 hours a day, for at least the last three days.

Can anyone tell me what operation is going on to generate this sound?

My hat is certainly off to the guy with this level of tenacity.

Thanks!

I feel the noise is coming from the camera area.
Maybe the mic gain is out of wack

What you're hearing is the camera cooling fan(s). When we can we will replace the in camera mic. with a remote. The hold up for that is the usual, time and money. :-|

Thanks, but, I got the cooling fans down pat.

This is coming from the engine house, a "Vvvrreeeep .....Vvvvrrreeeep ......Vvvvreeeep" that sounds exactly like a good airgun removing lug nuts, a sound I've heard tens of thousands of times.

It's not as prevalent now, but Wednesday and Thursday, it happened hundreds of times from dawn to dusk.

Maybe I just need less caffeine.

It seems to start as early as 06:00 MT.

It's not the long vacuum howl of the cooling fans, which is individual to each camera.

Thank, though.
