Darwin Award Candidates

One two occasions today, I have seen people put themselves in jeopardy by dawdling too close to the tracks as a locomotive was doing switching maneuvers. This morning, while #487 was shuffling some cars, an overzealous photographer was standing in the middle of the track, apparently mesmerized by the task of framing his shot, as the locomotive come trundling toward him. He was saved only by another guy standing nearby who reached over and literally jerked him out of harm's way. This afternoon, a bunch of kids were goofing around right next to the track near #15 as #487 was backing up, pulling the four rear-end cars away to switch them over to the yard track. At the last possible minute, one of littler kids got the rest to move over, but all were treated to a thick down-draft of black smoke as the loco stopped to reverse direction. These are the kinds of idiots that got a chain-link fence erected in Durango. Don't know how to cure stupid, but I'd sure hate to see us get a similar fence in Chama.
