05-12-15 Yard Moves

Unread postby Larry Sullivan » Tue May 12, 2015 11:27 am

#15 was brought out of it's hiding spot in the roundhouse today. Bucket loader was used to hook the flat car to #15 and pulled out of the roundhouse. Once started and warmed #15 was used to swap #488 and #484. #15 was then put back into roundhouse and sits waiting for it's next job. So currently after the swap, #484 sits in front of the shop and #488 is inside.

Locomotive swaps as described above.

For all those that missed it live (including me) here's video of the arrival. Please note the sound is off by about 2 seconds, you'll see the whistle steam and then hear it. This is due to the North cam not having a working mic and sometimes when I leave both cams on for a while they get off sync a bit. Whistle still sounds great though!!!! Cars also look shiny and new after their paint and clear coating.
#489 brings in passenger coaches from Antonito. If I counted right 9 coaches, 1 open gon, and caboose!

Great video of the long train coming into the yard. Thanks for getting it up for those who missed it.

After turning the train at the wye, 489 came back past the depot and spotted the cars in the yard. Rain started and some thunder during the moves. After stopping at the ash pit, 489 is put to bed in front of the shop.

So for everyone following where the locomotives are -- currently 484 and 489 are in front of shop. 488 is inside, presumably with 487 (no tender), and 463 was in back of the shop at last view. One of them should be heading back to Antonito either tomorrow or one day soon, we'll see if they pull any cars with them.
