Looks like they have 484 up and about again this morning.

Quick video of 484 moving to the ash pit. Looks like whatever the issue was yesterday they resolved it.

No stop at the water tank, so thinking they filled the water inside the engine house? Perhaps the tank was already closed off and secured for the winter. Now stopping for sand.

Did not take on coal yet either.

At 11;35, 484 headed out of the yard with two cabooses in tow. Loved the sound of her, crisp and square, and the whistle was music to my ears!

So to sum up the morning, 484 hooked up to the two cabooses (or is it cabeese?) dropped them off, ran around them hooked onto the front and now took off out of the yard.

They did not take on coal or water, so guessing they won't be going too far, but that's where we stand for now.

Short video of the movement leaving the yard.

After that, sorry to say the reality of getting ready for work sets in, so anyone else watching that can keep the updates going it would be great!!

Nice to see steam again, and agree with Edwin about the whistle music!

Thanks Larry for posting.
I walked away a few minutes and when I returned, the engine and cabooses were gone.
Now I know where they went!

As I came in to shut down the computer I heard a whistle -- 484 with cabeese leading came back to the yard at about 12:44

Around 14:00 local time 484 went over to the coal dock to fill a near empty tender. Front end loader came around to tipple side for tamping down the coal. 484 numerals on loco and tender lettering pretty much covered in grime.

After filling tender shop crew worked on gauges/dials/??? In the cab before 484 sprinted down to the tank and then backed up engine house lead iinside. Later smoke was rising up on far side of the building like 484 was outside. This series of captures was just before 14:20 local time.

Thanks for capturing the afternoon activities Larry -- nice way to have a complete picture of the day.

I know they know what they're doing, but that near empty coal bin when they headed out of the yard earlier would have made me nervous!

Did they take on water at the tank? I was wondering if they had that closed off and secured for the winter and if it could be used.

Perhaps we'll have a departure to Antonito tomorrow -- we'll be watching!

It was fun watching the loading of the tender and tampering down. I have not seen the tamping down of coal before.

To answer your question, Larry, about taking water from the tank, no. 484 sprinted down past the main spout and then backed up without stops to the engine house. Longest wait was for throwing switch. Less than 5 min elapsed time in this series of captures.
