At about 7:10 MDT a short train with 6 gons and a caboose, pulled by #487, left the yard east bound (No other direction choices ;-) ) One rider in the last gon.

Came back a bit before 11 AM and turned 487, the caboose and the passenger gondola around on the wye. 4 passengers in the gondola.

In the meantime, 15 continues to rearrange the furniture, though it seems to be in fragile running condition as with this final maneuver, the crew is looking around the trucks and inspecting the string of cars. Possibly air compressor problems? Dunno as it's hard to tell from a distance.

Should be interesting to see where they stash everything.

be well,

487 is off again with its gondola train at about 1 PM. Started off on the wrong track, it looks like. But stopped for water under the west spigot. Got water without flooding the yard. Looks like rain to the north.

Tuesday's "Training Train"

Unread postby Edwin Frey » Tue Aug 20, 2013 6:47 am

As of 7:30 this morning, the train for the "Fireman/Engineer School" has been made up and is ready for departure. Several cars have been added today, including one of the gons which had been parked near the coal tipple, and three flat cars, one with a partial load of ties. #487 is on the point, and with the added cars, it makes for a nice, long train. Wish I were there to chase it. Would make for some great photo ops. It actually departed at about 8:20, after having taken out one of the flat cars.
