Busy Friday -Smoke on the south side

Unread postby Edwin Frey » Sat Aug 17, 2013 6:28 am

Yesterday saw #15 busy most of the day, shuffling cars, starting with RPO 54 which was pulled out of the roundhouse and taken down to the fourth track in the yard south of the engine house complex. Later, a good deal of time was spent preparing to move a string of the Friends' cars, which ended up in a position to be moved to some other destination in the yard. That involved pulling the two cabeese and tank car to the north to clear the switch which leads from the track normally occupied by the Friends' lineup.

Throughout the day, smoke could be seen rising from behind the south side of the engine house, and it's still visible this morning (Saturday), including an occasional plume from safety valves. Probably 463, or could it be 484?

I'm sure that I missed a lot of the action yesterday, but it was a great day for checking in when I could.

Shortly after 7:30, 463 emerged from the engine house and headed to the ash pit.
