What was/is the purpose of the ladder-like structure next to light pole to the left of the gondolas? I see, from a pic I took there last summer, that there are rungs toward the bottom of it and X-bracing nearer the top.

ED, I beleive it is a light tower for the ashpit. When the bulb burns out, u goto get to it to change it!
