05-15-17 First steam today?

Number 15 is up early this morning, perhaps we'll see #487 steamed up today!

487 being moved in front of the roundhouse, perhaps going to be a locomotive shuffle, moving another inside.

I've lost track over the winter which loco is where, but I think 484 (no plow) was just shoved inside the shop.

487 now parked in front of the open shop door - we may see a fire in her belly soon.

As 487 came up to the pit, the paint is so shiny other they a red spot on the front of the boiler.

Appears the long winter steam drought is about over with snow melt and plowing. Let's hope the road to Osier is open so the dinning hall and it's pantry is ready too.

I think that 489 was parked in front on the east side. Expanding the shot you made Larry, that is definitely the plow of 489 showing there.

Well its open from the pass all the way to Antonito, so the Chama crew just needs to get up to the pass to clear that section.

The turbo-generator is on, and the pops lifted at 11:16. Won't be long now 'til we see her step out on her own. :smiley16: (Actually, I may be over-eager. IIRC, there's a mandated annual inspection which requires the boiler to be run up to working pressure, then cooled prior to down to making any repairs/adjustments to items noted during the pressure test. That could take a while.)

Those were just short runs with no load to pull but she sure sounded good. Makes me want to ask, who is that dressed up as '87.
