2/21/16 Cumbres Pass

Looks like Mother Nature has hit a defrost cycle up in the high country. Noticeable on the south facing slope as the sun angle is increasing.

Things are thawing in Chama as spring is slowly headed our way and daytime highs for the next 2 weeks are forecast to be low 50's most of the days. Two weeks until the flanger excursion and the first signs of activity on the C&TS and less than 100 days until opening.

Sharon, On the flip side of that is every night the temps will be well below freezing. This of course will add to the ice build up making for fun and games when it comes to clearing the track during the up coming flanger charter.

Ya, the lack of snow is shocking. I hope there's some left for the flanger charter! My front yard in Chama is almost bare. I went over to Antonito yesterday to check the area out, and there's -no- snow over there. Last year, we got hit several times in April, however.

We got a good 11 inches here now, and I'm only 20 minutes away from sister Mudhen #464. Everything is shut down!
