Red River & Gulf Railroad - New Video Series

Unread postby Jason Rose » Fri Oct 23, 2020 6:19 am

This isn't NG, but only because the rails are too far apart. :smiley16: All the flavor that makes NG so special is in abundance on the Red River & Gulf in Long Leaf, Louisiana, so I don't think it's out-of-line to post this here.

We have a fully operational belt-drive Machine Shop in Long Leaf and it was used by the late John Weiss ( http://www.redriverandgulf.net/John-Weiss.html ) to produce some of the parts for the new wooden passenger car trucks the Friends built in Antonito. So, Long Leaf definitely has a strong connection to the C&T.

We've started producing videos on the history of all the buildings and rolling stock at the museum and on the railroad. The first 6 episodes are complete (see below).

In addition, here are a couple of new photo galleries featuring some very good grey scale and aerial photography: http://www.redriverandgulf.net/RRG-Spec ... raphy.html

If you're in the area, please consider getting involved. We have long-term goals of returning steam to the railroad and running regular trains. But, we need to finish rebuilding the railroad first and we're working through a 5-year plan to do that.
