Lots of progress evident during the second day in Chama!

Tomorrow, we'll cover the on-going work at Antonito (car shelter and frameless tank car restoration).

New door has been constructed and installed in the Rotary OM display; plexiglass has been placed in bottom third and you can see the reflection of the depot in this photo.

The top of the door is heavy wire only. This will give a much better view of the interior of Rotary OM display

By mid-day Tuesday, new siding was visible on the remodeled tool car

New tongue-and-groove roof has been installed on Sheep Stock Car 5633. It is covered with 30-pound felt paper. The new metal roof should last a whole lot longer than a wood roof!

Team working on cosmetic restoration of Engine 483 continues to make progress

On the Derrick OP project: new oil ports have been drilled and welded to the pipe flanges

TL Russ Hanscom, Derrick OP restoration, applies heat to the top in order to distribute the heat so the piece will cool evenly (preventing warping)
020.JPG
TL Russ Hanscom and Mike Wissler work to remove two-inch block so they can insert a one-inch block under the OP "donkey" engine
019.JPG
Builder's plate shows engine on Derrick OP was purchased from Morse Brothers Machinery and Supply Co. in Denver, Colorado - approximately 1908. Engine shows it was manufactured in New York...

Spero Bettalico, the "Paint Man", sprays Chama Depot deck with a 50-50 mixture of burnt linseed oil and paint thinner.

Thanks Ted & Linda.

I sure wish I was there instead of here. I'm missing all the fun!
